Choosing the right archery target is essential for improving your accuracy and extending the life of your equipment. At BIGshot Archery, we design targets for every type of shooter, from backyard beginners to professional competitors. This guide will help you select the perfect target based on your bow type, shooting style, and budget.
1. Identify Your Target Type
The first step is deciding which style of target fits your practice needs. We offer several specialized collections:
Bag Targets: Best for high-volume practice with field points. They offer the easiest arrow removal and are highly durable for repetitive shots.
Broadhead Targets: Specifically engineered to withstand the cutting action of broadheads. These are a must-have for hunters preparing for the season.
3D Targets: These provide a realistic hunting experience with life-like animal shapes, such as our Dall Sheep or Mountain Goat models, helping you practice vital zone shots.
Crossbow Targets: Built with high-density materials like our Iron Man series to stop bolts traveling at speeds over 500 FPS.
2. Consider Your Bow's Speed and Power
Not all targets are built to handle the kinetic energy of modern bows.
Standard Vertical Bows: Most Backyard Targets and Youth Targets are perfect for traditional or compound bows with moderate draw weights.
High-Performance Crossbows: If you shoot a high-speed crossbow, look for specialized models like the Kinetic 650 to prevent "pass-throughs" that can damage your bolts.
3. Specialty Practice and Training
For shooters looking for more than just a stationary block, consider these advanced options:
QuivAR Enabled Targets: Use augmented reality to turn your physical target into an interactive digital training session.
Archery Simulators: Ideal for commercial ranges or dedicated home setups, providing a video-based shooting experience.
If you want professional-grade performance on a budget, check our Blem Sale. These targets, like the Blemished Titan 10XS, have minor cosmetic imperfections but offer the same stopping power as our full-price models.
5. TargetTack®
Secure your paper targets with professional-grade reliability using TargetTack®. Designed for maximum versatility, TargetTacks allow you to quickly mount targets to a wide variety of backstops—from traditional hay bales and dense foam to even pre-drilled wood. They provide a stable, flat shooting surface that stands up to the elements and heavy practice sessions.

Worth the price
Ive shot this target daily since the day it showed up, and I absolutely love it. Stops arrows quick, easy arrow removal, and I dont even know what qualified it as a blemish. I figure Im going to shoot holes in it so a blemish didnt bother me anyways. Very happy with my purchase.

Best broadhead target period!
I’ve got two of these and they are by far the best broadhead targets I’ve ever seen. I can’t tell you how many mechanicals and fixed blades I’ve put into these and they’re still holding up really well.
Two blade three blade and four blade. One of them is just starting to show a little bit of where and will probably have to be replaced sometime this summer or fall.
Like any other target some broadheads pull out much better than others
For instance, Swhacker broadheads are simple to remove compared to something like an Ozcut hurricane, which will make you pull your guts out lol
Any fixed two blade pulls right out. Even 150 single bevels.
If you shoot cheap arrows, you will leave some inserts inside of this target. I’ve even had a couple of zombie slayers that I’ve had to retrieve the inserts and re-glue them.
I don’t believe there’s any target that’s 100% perfect but I do believe this will get you as close to it as possible. OK enough review talk. Just buy it!
